INVITING
CHRISTIAN PASTORS INTO THE PRESENCE OF GOD
The flexible self-directed program of the Sinai Experience allows
Christian leaders to seek God at their own pace, in their own way,
but offers times of worship in common at morning and evening prayer.
Guests are invited into community at a common meal each day. The
Sinai Experience focuses on an intense reading of Gods Word
using the ancient art of Lectio Divina,
or Sacred Reading.
A very ancient art, practiced at one time by all Christians, Lectio
Divina is a slow contemplative praying of the Scriptures which enables
the Bible, the Word of God, to become a means of union with God.
Lectio Divina has no other goal than spending time with God through
His Word. The Pastor is invited to dialogue with the Word that is
the Scripture and the Word that is Christ.
This is not Bible study, not digging for facts about God to be
used later. Knowing facts about God does not always change the way
we relate to him. We must come to know him better all the time and
be changed by this experience.
The goal is not merely to discover something about God, but to
discover our true, hidden selves, and what we discover is not something
foreign or surprising, but our most authentic, most familiar self
as we find it mirrored in Gods word.
This five day retreat, offered in Texas, begins on Sunday evening
and ends on Friday morning.
