While Texas Stagecoach Inn offers all Pastors
Retreat Network programs, the solitude of the Hill Country is especially
conducive to contemplative retreats such as the Sinai Experience and the
Bethany Retreat. Located near Lost Maples State Natural Area and in the
heart of ranch country where opportunities for hiking and observing nature
abound, it is the perfect place to discover God in the magnificence of
His creation.
The 90-minute drive from San Antonio leads northwest from the bustling
city through the picturesque winding roads of the Hill Country. Gradually
one loses contact with the outside world as cell phone reception dims
and around each curve is another spectacular view.
The vast openness of the terrain and the shifting light as you round
each turn brings new perspective and tranquility.
In the spring, it might be fields of bluebonnets, in the autumn the red
blaze of maples preparing for winter. In the summer, the heat shimmers
off the roads, cactus shares the fields with grasses, and wildlife abounds.
The rivers run clear and the stars are bright in this Texas paradise.
You will pass through Pipe Creek and Medina, small communities that have
struggled for years to build a life in this gravelly land. You’ll
meet these friendly, generous and forthright individuals should you venture
into town.
For those willing to drive a bit further, there is antiquing in Fredericksburg,
the Cowboy Artists Museum in Kerrville and many beautiful natural areas
to explore and enjoy.
